Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor and journalist for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up within New York City, Mitchell graduated with a BA degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. The following year, she was an general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by the year 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House reporter in 1992 and the head Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a host as well as a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debate in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering at the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to summits around the world and covered frequently.
